Requirements for authorisation

Those who want to perform accounting services for others must be authorised by The Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Finanstilsynet). In order to be eligible touse the title "external accountant", the following requirements must be fulfilled in accordance with the External Accountants Act:

A bachelor's degree in economics and business administration (with final-yearconcentration on external accounting)
Two years of relevant job experience within the past five years are also required. Furthermore, one of the two years must be with an authorised external accountant or an authorised external accounting firm.
An authorised accountant shall at all times be able to submit proof of completion at least 77 continuing education hours over the course of the three precedingcalendar years
